June 25 to July 28, 2023
Diversity in a Square – Diversity in Togetherness
group exhibition
The "Artists Night" organized by "K im Fluss" has been taking place in the Orangery Darmstadt since 2014. The exhibition "Vielfalt im Quadrat – Vielfalt im Miteinander" (Diversity in a Square – Diversity in Togetherness) provides an insight into the highlights of previous events, into the joint creation of art and the solidarity between artists.
The artists involved come from Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg and Cyprus. The exhibition shows, on one hand, the diversity of the participants in their expression and level of development as artists and, on the other hand, how collaboration can be possible in this diversity and can lead to great results.
In the first exhibition room there are square works of art that were created individually in the artists' studios and only have the same format of 30 x 30 cm as a starting point. You can see, among other things, a lumen print on Plexiglas in the light box by Cordula Hilgert from Viernheim, a collage combined with painting by Monika Geyer from Gundernhausen, painting in egg tempera and oil by Anne Dubber from Krefeld and a picture by Nobert Denzel from Schefflenz with acrylic and earth on canvas (see photo).
In the other room you can see collaborative paintings that were created live during two artist nights, for example a work in acrylic and metal on canvas that was painted jointly by Helmut Hahn from Mosbach, Sarita Dey from Erzhausen, Monika Geyer from Gundernhausen and Nicole Heymann from Heidelberg and was supplemented with quotes from Marco Michalzik from Marburg. The film accompanying the exhibition about the artists' nights since 2014 gives a small insight into the encouraging collaboration between artists.
The opening will take place on June 25 at 3:30 pm in the Kunstraum Backstube, Frankensteiner Str. 5 in 64297 Darmstadt-Eberstadt. Munevera Kulin, mechanical engineer and artist, leads through the afternoon, Ulrike E Sticher, chairwoman of K im Fluss e.V. and owner of the Kunstraum Backstube, leads through the exhibition and Werner Geischberger, musician and author, refreshes with improvisations on the guitar. Discover and develop the diversity in togetherness with us and paint yourself on a canvas. The works of art in the exhibition are all for sale.
The exhibition can be seen from June 25 to July 28 on Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 am to 2 pm and Fridays from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Kunstraum Backstube.
During the exhibition, visitors are invited to leave their artistic traces on a shared canvas under the motto "Diversity in Togetherness" and to experience with this "work in process" what it feels like to paint on other people's paintings, to color them to complement and be part of an exhibition.
The visual artist Ulrike E Sticher invites you to a public tour of the exhibition on Friday, July 14 at 6 pm and on Saturday, July 22 at 1 pm. Refreshments are provided.
