Artists Night 2020
June 27 and 28, 2020

6th Artists Night

Orangery Darmstadt

This year's artists night will take place on June 27 and 28 in the Orangery Darmstadt with the theme "Stable Values in Change".

Given the dramatic changes in the past few weeks, the motto chosen over a year ago is more relevant than ever.

We took the corona pandemic and its effects on society as an opportunity to fundamentally revise the exhibition concept for this year, following the motto: “Challenges are there to rethink, step out of the familiar and take the risk to do something new."

This means, for example, that the visitor is not presented with the pictures hanging vertically on a wall as usual, but is surprised by horizontal picture installations that spread out like islands on the floor of the orangery. Visitors are taken into a new way of looking at things and experience an unwanted change of perspective through a different view of the works of art. A word walk by Marco Michalzik, spoken word artist from Darmstadt, will lead through the exhibition and around the installations.

There will be live performances from the areas of pop, classical, instrumental, vocal, spoken word and poetry on both days. In order to avoid crowds, there will be no advance notice of these performances. The artists will perform spontaneously, mostly several times, so that visitors can hear something enjoyable from time to time during their tour of the exhibition.

Once again this year the artists night stands for a vibrant interplay of painting, poetry, photography, collage, installation, music and performance and invites you to stroll, refuel and reflect with its beautiful and life-affirming art.

The participating artists come from the Netherlands and Germany.

Of course, the event concept takes into account the current requirements of the state of Hesse and the city of Darmstadt regarding the hygiene and distancing rules as a result of the corona pandemic. Attention will also be paid to compliance during the event.

The program of the artists night is adapted to the current situation. To prevent accumulation, it now offers a continuous exhibition and stage for visual and performing arts, for music and word art. Let yourself be surprised and inspired by the creativity of the artists.

Note: The hygiene and clearance rules applicable at the time of the artists night must be observed. Entry is only possible if you bring your own face mask.
